Samsung, Apple, End Patent Lawsuits Outside U.S.

Since 2011, the mobile development industry has been watching with interest as Apple and Samsung battled each other in patent lawsuits filed all over the world. Now the two companies have agreed to drop all cases except the high-profile cases pending in the United States. They released a joint statement which said, “Apple and Samsung have agreed to drop all litigation between the two companies outside the United States. This agreement does not involve any licensing arrangements, and the companies are continuing to pursue the existing cases in U.S. courts.”

In the most recent U.S. trial, Apple won but didn’t get nearly as much in damages as it had wanted. In addition, the trial revealed embarrassing secrets about Apple, leading many to the conclusion that Apple lost as much as it won in the case.
