Unnamed “sources familiar with the company’s plans” tell The Verge that Microsoft is planning to unveil a consumer preview of Windows 10 at an event to be held in late January. Among the features in the forthcoming operating system is a new touch interface called Continuum, which will likely be highlighted at the press event. The company may also make announcements related to Windows phones, tablets and Xbox One at the same time.

Microsoft had previously said it would disclose consumer features of the new OS in “early 2015,” so this latest report appears to be consistent. The sources say the official announcement of the January event will come before the end of 2014.
