A new report from Berg Insight says that manufacturers shipped 72.5 million wearable devices in 2015, an increase from 25.3 million in 2014. It predicts that the market will continue to grow quickly through 2020, when it expects manufacturers will ship 228.3 million wearables.
The wearables device market includes smartwatches, fitness trackers, safety devices, smart glasses, medical devices and other wearable electronics. Most of the devices connect via Bluetooth technology, but by 2020, 17.8 million of the wearable sold will include cellular capabilities, the report said.
