App Annie has released a new report on the mobile development industry, and it found that Google Play saw 45 percent more downloads than Apple’s App Store in the first quarter of this year. However, the App Store generated 85 percent more revenue than Google Play. (Data on Amazon’s Appstore wasn’t included in the report.)
While it still trails the App Store in sales by a considerable margin, Google Play has made strides in closing the gap. In the U.S., for instance, Google Play revenue increased 55 percent compared to last quarter.
