Report: 73% of IT Managers Looking to Hire Developers

The Linux Foundation and the online jobs site Dice have just published an “Open Source Jobs Report.” It said, “Developer remains the position most hiring managers in this survey (73 percent) seek to fill. They also need DevOps engineers (60 percent) and systems administrators (53 percent).”

Other key findings included the following:

  • 58 percent of hiring managers plan to hire more open source professionals.
  • Half of companies are more likely to hire IT workers with certifications, and 47 percent of companies said they would help pay for employee certifications.
  • Hiring managers are looking for cloud computing (70 percent), Web technologies (67 percent) and Linux (65 percent) talent.
  • 86 percent of professionals surveyed say open source has advanced their careers.
