Pinterest has announced the beta release of its new Developers Platform, which it describes as a “suite of APIs for developers to build apps and integrations that bring pins to life.” It allows users to access users’ pins, boards and followers and to track which items users are following, but only with users’ permission.

To take part, developers must be located in the U.S., and they must successfully complete an application process. More information is available on the Pinterest Developers Site.

Pinterest has an estimated 47 million users.
