Oracle Reveals Java Wish List
In a slide presentation titled "To Java SE 8 and Beyond!" Oracle has revealed its plans to keep the popular programming language relevant. The company hopes to improve Java with a multi-language JVM, improved Java/native integration, a self-tuning JVM, scaling down to embedded systems and up to massive servers, support for heterogeneous compute models, a hypervisor-aware JVM, improved sharing between JVMs in the same OS, per-thread/threadgroup resource tracking and management, large data support, and more. The company hopes to release JDK 9 in 2015, JDK 10 in 2017, JDK 11 in 2019, and JDK 12 in 2021.
The presentation also asserts, "Java is not the new Cobol." View article
