Oracle has announced that it is joining the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) as a Platinum member. The CNCF is a Linux Foundation group that supports Kubernetes and related open source tools. Becoming a Platinum member costs $370,000; other high-profile members include Amazon, Cisco, Google, IBM, Intel, Microsoft and RedHat. Many industry observers see Oracle’s decision to join the CNCF as a sign that Kubernetes is likely to dominate container orchestration.
In addition, Oracle announced that it will integrate Kubernetes into Oracle Linux and that it will release the Terraform Kubernetes installer for its cloud computing platform under an open source license.
