A group of researchers from UC Berkeley, MIT, Stanford, University of Washington, Cornell and Google have launched a new organization called Oasis Labs that aims to create a blockchain cloud computing platform. Led by MacArthur fellow and UC Berkeley professor Dawn Song, Oasis will focus on privacy-protecting smart contracts.

“As a team with deep roots in academia and extensive experience in entrepreneurship and bringing cutting-edge research technology to practice, we are thrilled to embark on a journey together with our community to bring to the world a new computing paradigm,” said a team blog post.

Interested individuals can apply to be part of Oasis Labs’ private testnet project.
