Cloud development platform Engine Yard has added support for Node.js, an extremely popular set of JavaScript libraries. According to Engine Yard’s Mark Gaydos, the platform as a service simplifies life for developers because it eliminates the need to procure server hardware, to maintain Node.js and to deploy the other software necessary to use Node.js. The company noted that Node.js is currently the second most-monitored project on GitHub and is widely used by Web application developers.

Engine Yard’s Node.js service is priced per VM per hour. A medium-sized Node.js implementation usually costs approximately $1 per hour.
