Platform-as-a-service (PaaS) provider Heroku has launched a new public beta codenamed Celadon Cedar. The update offers a number of new features, including support for the Node.js programming framework, “procfiles” for defining processes, and real-time access to log files and process status.
Perhaps the most noteworthy of these new features are the “procfiles.” They were created as a way for the PaaS to address user requests for more control. According to Heroku co-founder James Lindenbaum, they allow “any piece of code to run as a process.”
