Microsoft and Google have jointly announced that they are settling 20 patent lawsuits related to Android, Xbox, video and networking. The official statement said, “Microsoft and Google are pleased to announce an agreement on patent issues. As part of the agreement, the companies will dismiss all pending patent infringement litigation between them, including cases related to Motorola Mobility. Separately, Google and Microsoft have agreed to collaborate on certain patent matters and anticipate working together in other areas in the future to benefit our customers.”

The companies did not release any details related to the settlement, so the public doesn’t know how they worked the financials out. The patent fight had been going on for about five years. Microsoft brings in approximately $3.4 billion per year from Android patent licensing deals.
