Microsoft Buys SyntaxTree

Microsoft has announced that it has purchased development tool vendor SyntaxTree for an undisclosed sum. SyntaxTree is best known as the maker of UnityVS, a cross-platform Visual Studio plug-in for game developers who use Unity to write and debug code. Microsoft plans to make UnityVS available for free.

Recently, Microsoft has purchased several smaller firms that offer cross-platform and mobile development tools. Ars Technica writes, ” With these purchases, integrations, and collaborations, Microsoft is making Visual Studio the development platform for mobile and multi-platform developers.”
