JetBrains Launches RubyMine 4 IDE

  • By Developer.com Staff

Application development tool vendor JetBrains has unveiled the 4.0 version of its RubyMine integrated development environment (IDE) for Ruby on Rails. One of the most significant benefits offered by the update is greatly improved performance. "Our team has made tweaks to speed up RubyMine in every release so far. This time, however, we took a more radical approach," said RubyMine lead developer Dennis Ushakov. "We completely redesigned the architecture-and it paid off across the board. For example, Inspect Code now runs up to four times faster. At the same time, I think you will also enjoy the many requested features we added in RubyMine 4, as well as its enhanced usability."

Other notable features in the new release include streamlined interfaces for Windows, Linux and OS X; improved CoffeeScript and SCSS/LESS editors; and testing and debugging improvements.
