According to a new bulletin from online job board Dice.com, Java continues to be the most in-demand skill for IT hiring managers, with more than 16,000 Java positions listed on the site on any given day. “Java was named one of the Top 10 skills hiring managers search for when in the market for cloud candidates, according to our November report,” said Shravan Goli, Dice president. “And considering it’s a basis for so many open source projects, demand for tech pros with this programming language doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.”

Goli added that .NET development skills are also in high demand.

The most recent numbers show that unemployment for software developers is around 2.6 percent, compared to 6.1 for the U.S. as a whole.
