It’s a no-brainer to guess that lowering an app’s price might increase its sales—but how much can a price drop help?
A new report from Distimo found that when mobile development firms lowered their prices for iPhone apps, downloads surged a cumulative 1,665 percent within five days. For iPad apps, downloads rose an average of 871 percent during the same period of time.
Interestingly, price increases did not have as dramatic an effect. For iPhones, price increases slowed sales by 46 percent, and for the iPad, it was 57 percent.
