IBM and Coursera have announced that they are partnering to offer a new online course called "A developer's guide to the Internet of Things (IoT)." It will cost $79 and will teach participants to use IBM's Bluemix cloud development platform to create an IoT solution for a Raspberry Pi. Students are expected to be able to complete assignments in Python and JavaScript, and the course will also involve Node-RED, a rapid application development environment built by IBM Emerging Technologies.

The course will be taught by Brian Innes, a developer advocate in the IBM for Watson Internet of Things unit, and Yianna Papadakis Kantos, a curriculum architect and instructional designer in the Watson IoT unit.
