Hyundai Joins Automotive Grade Linux, Linux Foundation

Auto maker Hyundai recently joined both the Linux Foundation and Automotive Grade Linux (ACL), a cross-industry effort to develop an open platform for connected cars.

"Open collaboration is essential as we realize our connected car vision," Hyundai vice president and head of infotainment technology center Paul Choo said in a statement. "ACL has built a robust platform that offers the flexibility to design and build new services on top of it, and quickly bring them to market."

"We look forward to working with the community to expand the platform and collaboratively develop the underlying technologies that are vital to the  next generation of connected vehicles," Choo added.

The ACL Unified Code Base (UCB) open source platform for infotainment, telematics and instrument cluster applications provides 70 percent of the starting point for a production project. More information on ACL can be found here
