As a first step in its promise to open source the webOS platform, HP has released Enyo 2.0, an open source application framework. With the tool, Web developers can create Web apps that will run in any browser, as well as apps for the webOS platform.
HP plans to open source all of the code for its webOS tools by September. Observers say that releasing the developer tools early will allow the company to build up a library of apps for the platform before any potential devices that might run webOS hit the market.
