TechCrunch is running an interesting article written by John Sung Kim, the founder of a call center software firm called Five9. Kim tells how he started and grew the firm even though he really knew nothing about software development and had nearly no money for getting started.

Five9 was at the forefront of the VoIP and cloud computing trends, which helped it grow quickly. Today, the company is publicly traded and was worth $350 million on the day of its initial public offering (IPO).

Kim offers some other advice for would-be startup founders: “You don’t have to be an Ivy League graduate (I’m not) or have a lot of money (we didn’t). You just have to believe in yourself against all reasonable logic, as trite as that sounds.”
