How Long Does It Take to Make a Mobile App?

  • By Developer.com Staff

Mobile development company Hyperlink InfoSystem has published new data detailing how long it takes to create a mobile app and about how much it costs. Based on the firm's experience creating more than 1,000 apps, it says the average time is about eight weeks — three weeks on the back end and five weeks on the front end. Costs for that amount of time vary by country. In the US, it is about $48,000, but in India, it is only about $4,800.

However, the developers were careful to point out that some kinds of apps take much longer than others. For example, social media apps are, by their nature, much more complex. "So in a broad idea, the cost to make a social app is between $10,000 to $60,000," the company said. "Estimated time frame varies between 2.5 months to 6 months."
