Google has launched the 1.0 version of Android Studio, its Android integrated development environment (IDE) which has been available as a preview since the I/O conference earlier this year. In the past, Android development tools have been based on Eclipse, but Android Studio is based on the JetBrains IntelliJ. Information on migrating to the new tool is available on the Android Developer site.

The new tool includes integrated performance testing, on-demand emulation, and support for automatic screen scaling. It is available free of charge.
