Google is open sourcing more of its artificial intelligence technology. It has released its TensorFlow Object Detection API, as well as MobileNets, which are computer vision models designed to be used in mobile development efforts.
The Object Detection API aims to identify multiple objects within the same image. Google already uses it in its Nest Cam, Google Maps Street View and Google Image Search.
In a blog post, the company described MobileNets as “small, low-latency, low-power models parameterized to meet the resource constraints of a variety of use cases.” Those use cases may include object detection, landmark recognition, image classification and facial attribute identification from mobile devices.
