Google Play Doubles File Size Warning Limits

In the past, Android users would see a large file size warning when they downloaded an app larger than 50MB from Google Play. Now, Google has upped that limit to 100MB. That could be important for mobile development firms because some users will halt downloads when they see the file size warning.

Still, Google posted a blog cautioning developers not to make their apps larger just because they can. "We understand that developers are challenged with delivering a delightful user experience that maximizes the hardware of the device, while also ensuring that their users can download, install, and open the app as quickly as possible. It's a tough balance to strike, especially when you're targeting diverse global audiences," Google said in the post.
