In cooperation with Bertelsmann and Udacity, Google is providing free Android development training to 10,000 European Union residents. The company will provide 9,000 scholarships for an Android Basics class, which is meant for people with no previous coding experience, and 1,000 scholarships for an Associate Android Developer Fast Track program, which is meant for people with up to a year of mobile development or Java programming experience. Both classes are available through the Udacity online learning service.

Interested EU residents must apply before December 18. The program is meant to fill a current skills shortage in the region and increase the number of qualified candidates for mobile development jobs.
