Google Fiber and US Ignite have announced that they will cohost an event called the Gigabit Explorer Challenge that will ask developers to create apps that take advantage of super-fast internet speeds.

“What would you do with a gigabit?” blogged Joe Kochan, the COO of US Ignite. “That’s the question that US Ignite has been working to answer since we launched—and we want you to help us come up with some answers. This November, our team will travel to Kansas City to work with local and national developers to build and test gigabit applications that are built for high speed networks like the Google Fiber.”

The event will take place November 1–3 in Kansas City. Developers who would like to participate are invited to submit ideas before September 30.
