Google has officially released Android 8.0 “Oreo,” named after the popular cookie brand. Sameer Samat, Google’s vice president of product management, announced, “We’re pushing the sources to Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for everyone to access today.”

Key new features for the update include picture-in-picture capabilities, Autofill for app logins, security improvements through Google Play Protect and support for Instant Apps, which lets users access mobile apps through a browser instead of downloading the full app.

Google-branded phones will be the first to receive the update. Other device makers are expected to begin rolling out the new operating system soon.
