The GitLab code-hosting service suffered an outage Tuesday evening after an attack by spammers on Monday, and now it has revealed that it lost approximately six hours’ worth of data from GitLab.com. That includes issues, merge requests, users, comments, and snippets that were accidentally deleted. “Losing production data is unacceptable, and in a few days we’ll post the five whys of why this happened and a list of measures we will implement,” the company said.

GitLab says that less than one percent of users were affected by the data loss and that the outage did not affect enterprise application development teams using its Enterprise services.
