GitLab and GitHub offer competing code hosting services, but now the two are working together. More specifically, GitLab has announced that its continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) capabilities for DevOps and Agile software development teams are now available for GitHub users. The service will be free for one year, after which it will become part of GitLab’s Silver pricing tier.

“Continuous integration and deployment form the backbone of modern DevOps,” said Sid Sijbrandij, CEO and co-founder of GitLab. “With this new offering, businesses and open source projects that use GitHub as a code repository will have access to GitLab’s industry leading CI/CD capabilities.”

GitLab already offered support for another competing tool, Atlassian BitBucket.
