Artificial intelligence and machine learning have improved dramatically in recent years, and developers have been rushing to add AI capabilities to their apps. However, a recent experiment proves there are some things that AIs still cannot master.

Researcher Janelle Shane trained a neural network on the names of Sherwin-Williams paint colors, and then asked it to come up with paint colors of its own. The results were often hilarious. In her blog, Shane concluded, “1. The neural network really likes brown, beige, and grey; 2. The neural network has really, really bad ideas for paint names.”

Our favorites? Clardic fug (gray-green), Bunflow (tan), Stargoon (golden beige), Dorkwood (dark blue), Sindis Poop (light gray) and Stoner Blue (exactly the color blue that you would imagine goes with this name). Click the link below to see the colors in all their glory.
