DoD Invites Researchers to 'Hack the Pentagon'

For as long as hacking has been a thing, breaking into the servers at the Pentagon has been something of a holy grail. Now the U.S. Dept. of Defense (DoD) is setting up a new program called "Hack the Pentagon" that will pay bug bounties to developers and researchers who find security vulnerabilities in DoD systems.

So far, the DoD hasn't said how much it will pay for bug bounties, but it has $150,000 in funding for the effort. It is partnering with HackerOne, which will administer the program. Also, before receiving any payments, hackers must submit to a "basic criminal background check to ensure tax dollars are spent wisely."
