As soon as Apple announced that the iPhone 5 would have a larger, 4-inch display, mobile developers began scrambling to modify their apps. Apps built for the smaller screen size are letterboxed on the larger display, but many developers are eager to take advantage of the additional screen real estate.

However, while the technical challenges of modifying the apps’ screen sizes are minor, mobile development firms are reporting that they’re experiencing some logistical challenges. For example, some firms are in countries where the iPhone 5 isn’t being sold yet, making it impossible to test re-designed apps. That’s the case for Readdle, which is based in Odessa, Ukraine. In addition, Apple’s approval process is slowing things down. “Due to high number of submissions, approval time has extended up to two weeks, which is sad,” explained Readdle CEO Igor Zhadanov.
