Developers Are Top Hiring Priority for 2016

A pair of new reports finds that the career outlook for the IT industry is very good, particularly for software developers. According to CompTIA’s analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data, the IT sector accounted for 4,389,600 jobs at the end of June. Overall, IT employment enjoyed net growth of 74,000 jobs for the month. The BLS expects IT jobs to grow 12 percent through 2024.

A separate report from Dice found that 51 percent of managers and recruiters surveyed said that software developers were their top hiring priority this year. In addition, 15 percent named software engineers as their top priority, and 3 percent were looking for big data experts.
