Developer Builds Java-Based Office Productivity Suite in 30 Days
Freelance Java developer Anthony Goubard has accomplished an impressive feat: creating a complete office productivity suite—including a word processor, spreadsheet program, presentation program and database software—in just 30 days. His software, called http://www.joeffice.com/" target=newframe>Joeffice, is currently in alpha release and is available for download under an open source license.
Goubard built the applications using NetBeans, and he documented the process in a series of Youtube videos. He says Joeffice will eventually compete with Google Docs, but not Microsoft Office. "The suite is meant for companies with specific needs," he added.
