CoreOS Launches Kubernetes Management Tool

Red Hat-owned CoreOS has unveiled Operator Framework, an open source toolkit for Kubernetes cluster management. “To make the most of Kubernetes, you need a set of cohesive APIs to extend in order to service and manage your applications that run on Kubernetes,” said CoreOS CTO Brandon Philips. “We consider Operators to be the runtime that manages this type of application on Kubernetes.”

Operator Framework includes three separate tools for container management: the Operator Lifecycle Manager, the Operator Metering tool and the SDK for building, testing and packaging operators. Operator Framework is available on GitHub.
