Recent months have seen a sudden profusion of companies that want to help newbie developers learn to code, but what about developers who already have their first (or second or third) job and run into a problem they can’t solve alone? A new service called Codementor offers the ability to consult with veteran programmers on tough development challenges.

“We are working hard to bridge the gap between the experience of asking public questions on an Internet forum and having a real mentor sit right beside you,” says founder Weiting Liu.

Currently the service has 300 mentors available and offers screen sharing capabilities, as well as voice and video chat.
