Computer science education non-profit Code.org has announced that it has raised an additional $12 million in funding. Notable donors include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Infosys Foundation USA and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
As part of its Computer Science Education Week, Code.org also announced that 8 states, 76 school districts and 102 organizations have pledged to improve computer science education. In addition, California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom took the opportunity to launch a new Computer Science for California campaign, saying, “Right now most schools in California don’t offer any computer science classes and sadly, that disparity is punctuated by striking gender and racial gaps. I’m thrilled to announce the launch of CSforCA to make sure every California student has access to high-quality computer science education.”
