Two different sets of large technology companies have announced data-sharing partnerships. First, at the Microsoft Ignite conference, Adobe, Microsoft and SAP announced a project they call the Open Data Initiative. The companies plan to improve integration and interoperability among their cloud computing services, including Adobe Experience Cloud, Adobe Experience Platform, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP C/4HANA and S/4HANA.

“Microsoft, Adobe and SAP understand the customer experience is no longer a sales management conversation,” said Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP. “CEOs are breaking down the silos of the status quo so they can get all people inside their companies focused on serving people outside their companies. With the Open Data Initiative, we will help businesses run with a true single view of the customer.”

Independently, Salesforce and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced at the Salesforce Dreamforce event that they would launch new data integration services. “Customers talked to us about sensitive data in Salesforce and using deep analytics and data processing on AWS and moving them back and forth in secure way,” explained Matt Garman, vice president of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. New integrations among AWS Private Link, Salesforce APIs, AWS Lambda, Amazon Connect, Amazon Lex, Salesforce Einstein and other services will make it easier for organizations to analyze their data using tools from both vendors.
