Yesterday, Cloud.com announced that the CloudStack 2.0 Community Edition Preview Release is available.

“This technology preview provides the community with an opportunity to discover the Infrastructure as a Service capability provided by the CloudStack,” Cloud.com’s Vice President of Engineering Kevin Kluge said.

The Community Edition supports Ubuntu 10.04 and Fedora 13.

“It integrates with the Linux KVM hypervisor to provide a highly scalable software stack for private or public clouds,” Kluge said. “The Community Edition uses software-based network virtualization for ease of set up and good performance for guest virtual networks. This release supports storing virtual disk images on storage that is local to the KVM host or using shared storage accessed via NFS or iSCSI.”

CloudStack has been released with the GPLv3 license, and it is available for download here as either a binary or compile from source.
