The H reported today that the head of Novell’s open source Nat Friedman has quit.

In a blog post today Friedman said he is “hitting the road” and that today is his last day at Novell. He wrote that he and his new wife plan to travel around the world, volunteering and perhaps he will “hack on some just-for-fun projects on the side.”

Friedman co-founded Ximian with Miguel de Icaza in 1999. He joined Novell in 2003 when the company bought Ximian. Novell recently restructured and merged the Open Platform Solutions division with the new “Security, Management and Operating Platforms” unit.
