Consumer Groups Oppose Google’s AdMob Deal

Two consumer advocacy groups are asking the Federal Trade Commission to stop Google’s acquisition of the mobile advertising company AdMob.

The Wall Street Journal reported today that Consumer Watchdog and the Center for Digital Democracy have told the FTC that if the deal is goes through competition will be diminished to the detriment of consumers.

“Consumers will face higher prices, less innovation and fewer choices,” said John M. Simpson, a consumer advocate at Consumer Watchdog. “The FTC should conduct the appropriate investigation, block the proposed Google/AdMob deal, and also address the privacy issues.”
