eDoorways (PINKSHEETS: EDWY) is going open source. The company announced today that their Web 3.0 platform will be built using Drupal.

eDoorways has hired DPCI, an interactive technology firm specializing in integrated content management solutions, to help eDoorways leverage the power of the open source Drupal CMS.

eDoorways Chairman and CEO Gary Kimmons said that one of the reasons he chose an open source application like Drupal is to reap the benefits of thousands of programmers who work on Drupal for free.

“That constant programmer contribution translates into continuous technological development and growth for our platform at virtually no cost as compared to proprietary development,” Kimmons said.

Joseph Bachana, President and CEO of DPCI, said, “We’re very enthusiastic about eDoorways’ plans to leverage Drupal to support their ground-breaking interactive platform that will tie together people and businesses globally. We see Drupal as being a natural fit into the social publishing, Web content management platform, and ultimately, the Semantic Web needs of the eDoorways suite of products.”

Pinksheets lists eDoorways as Cavaet Emptor.
