Based on Apple’s most recent sales numbers, the mobile development industry can continue to expect a sizable market for their iOS apps. According to Apple, the company sold 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices during their first three days of availability. “Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.”
Apple had already sold 4 million devices in preorders even before the new smartphones became available in stores. Demand seems to be particularly strong for the iPhone 6 Plus, which now has wait times of three to four weeks. The wait time for an iPhone 6 is currently around seven to ten business days.
