On Wednesday, several Apple services including the App Store, iTunes, the Mac App Store, the iBooks Store and iCloud experienced intermittent service disruptions for approximately twelve hours, affecting customers who wanted to purchase apps and mobile development firms who wanted to sell them. The problems appeared to have been resolved by 1:34 p.m. PT.

Apple issued a statement about the incident, which said, “We apologize to our customers experiencing problems with iTunes and other services this morning. The cause was an internal DNS error at Apple. We’re working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their patience.”

The App Store was also briefly unavailable on Monday, but that outage was an intentional preparation for the release of the Apple Watch and the new MacBook.
