The Android N developer preview that came out last week reportedly includes some buried references to virtual reality (VR) features that could be added to the final version of the mobile development platform. In the settings menu is an option for apps to describe themselves as a “VR Listener” or “VR Helper,” as well as a permissions warning related to virtual reality mode.
So far, Google’s only VR product is its Cardboard app, but the Wall Street Journal has previously reported that the company is creating “a version of the Android operating system to power virtual-reality applications.”
