In this Sun webcast, Product Manager Bruce Tierney describes the benefits and features of Sun's Java Composite Application Platform Suite (CAPS) Release 6.

Traditional solutions to business integration challenges, Tierney says, are no longer sufficient. Closed-source solutions and vendor lock-in lead to customers not getting what they need in a timely fashion. Closed SOA platforms tend to be too heavyweight for small projects, with a high total cost of ownership (TCO).

Open source, community-driven software provides transparency and lowers risk. Java CAPS combines the advantages of open source with the backing of Sun. CAPS is a lightweight, modular platform for developing composite applications. It supports the Java Business Integration (JBI) standard for pluggable components, and is built on an Enterprise Service Bus, or ESB. Components of CAPS include Sun's ESB Suite, Sun's MDM Suite for master data management, and an Intelligent Event Processor, a real-time event trend detection and proactive management tool.
