Top 10 Skills in Demand in 2010

According to a survey conducted by Global Knowledge at the end of 2009, the following are the top ten IT skills employers are looking for this year.

1. Project Management. Increasingly, organizations are looking for project managers who can help them achieve a good ROI.
2. Security. With malware, DDoS and other attacks on the increase, employers are looking for security skills such as information risk management.
3. Network Administration. As enterprises upgrade to Windows Server 2008 R2 and the Windows 7 client, they want network pros to keep things running smoothly.
4. Virtualization - Cloud Computing. This relatively new skill set is in high demand this year.
5. Business Analysis. As we emerge from the recession, business analysis is making a comeback.
6. Business Process Improvement. The need to reduce operating costs and improve cash flow is driving demand for BPM skills.
7. Web Development. Popular skills include development of Facebook games, iPhone apps, widgets, blog customizations, and JavaScript Plugins.
8. Database Management. Companies are looking for Oracle, DB2 and Sybase experts to address DBA issues.
9. Windows Administration. Many companies are upgrading Windows and installing Exchange Server 2010 and SharePoint 2010.
10. Desktop Support. As the economy improves and new workers are hired, desktop support will become increasingly important.
