BEA Systems Showcases New Web 2.0 Products for Enterprise Users

On Tuesday, March 27th, at the O’Reilly Emerging Technology Conference (ETech) BEA Systems announced the release of three products. At a session entitled “Extreme Productivity in the Enterprise: The User is the Developer is the User…” Adrian McDermott, BEA’s vice president of engineering, highlighted and demonstrated three of BEA’s new products designed to bring Web 2.0 and social computing to the enterprise.

Keeping with ETech’s mission to showcase advancements that integrate technologies, streamline user interfaces and simplify the complex, BEA introduced its new enterprise Web 2.0 technologies to the public. This new enterprise class of integrated social computing software from BEA includes three new products, BEA AquaLogic® Pages, BEA AquaLogic® Ensemble and BEA AquaLogic® Pathways, each designed to empower end-user participation in the workplace while giving IT the management and governance control that core enterprise systems and processes require.

• AquaLogic Ensemble (formerly Project Runner) is infrastructure software designed for developers and IT operations to create and manage enterprise mashup applications, regardless of development platform and hosting environment.
• AquaLogic Pages (formerly Project Builder) is designed to empower end-user participants to surface enterprise data and create simple Web applications for day-to-day business situations, dramatically improving knowledge worker productivity.
• AquaLogic Pathways (formerly Project Graffiti) is a collaborative information discovery and expert identification tool that combines social book-marking and tagging with search and activity analytics, and is designed to help users discover and share information and expertise through the power of social networks.

BEA also launched a new resource for the Web 2.0 enabled enterprise. The En.terpri.se web site gives developers a chance to get more information about the technology, read through blogs and sign up for more details.
