Google Glass may be headed for trouble. Reuters is reporting that nine of sixteen Google Glass developers they contacted said that they are no longer working on apps for the device. One of those developers, Tom Frencel, the Chief Executive of Little Guy Games, said, “If there was 200 million Google Glasses sold, it would be a different perspective. There’s no market at this point.”
In addition, several high-profile Google employees who worked on Glass have recently left the company, and the Google Glass funding consortium, which was investing in Glass app makers, has shut down its website. On Ebay, Google Glass is selling for about half the list price. And Google co-founder Sergey Brin recently showed up at an event without Google Glass.
Still Google insists that it is committed to the product. “We are completely energized and as energized as ever about the opportunity that wearables and Glass in particular represent,” said Glass Head of Business Operations Chris O’Neill.
