As part of its efforts to promote the development of mobile Web apps, Yahoo has decided to release its Mojito development framework under an open source license. The tool allows for the creation of apps that remain available even when the user is not connected to the Internet. Yahoo has used it to create several apps, including Livestand and a fantasy soccer app.
“It doesn’t make much sense for Yahoo to keep those technologies closed,” Yahoo’s Fernandez-Ruiz said. “We want the Web to win.”
